China not only fakes iPhones… but Apple Stores, too!

As we see China move towards advancement of technology, one of the popular quote I always see on forums is "God made the world and the rest are made from China". China has a lot to offer and significantly, the advancement of technology made more authentic gadgets vulnerable to imitation. That's China imitation. But what about stores? You bet, they have too.

China might be known as the home of the fake iPhone, but what about whole stores? Surprising almost no one, China is indeed home to the fake Apple Store. These pictures from BirdAbroad (via IFOAppleStore), show a fake Apple Store complete with everything that a real Apple Store offers. Right down to the blue shirts with Apple logos and name labels for the employees. Starting from the top, this ‘Apple Store’ features a shiny exterior with a big glowing, white Apple front and center.

When you walk into the store, you will be stepping on wood or grey stone floors, depending on the section of the store, and will be surrounded by a showroom filled with iPads, Macs, and more… all on wooden tables. These tables are even equipped with the Apple (patented!) product holders. In fact, these tables are nearly identical, if not identical, to the tables used in Apple’s official stores. These stores went as far as to completely rip off Apple’s official press images – as you can see with the iPad 2 and iPod shuffle banners. Also notice the extremely outdated pink iPod posters.

Thousands threaten to quit Netflix

The Link Exchange - Your ultimate resource for link exchange!

If you're a Netflix subscriber, you received a rude awakening today in your inbox when the company announced it would no longer be offering a combined DVD and streaming plan and would instead separate the services, for a minimum cost of about $16 a month if you still want both.

I've been with Netflix since 2000, but only recently downgraded from three DVDs a month to one and unlimited streaming. I got this today:

Your current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:
Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

These changes raised the ire of Netflix's fans on Facebook, almost 9,000 of whom stormed onto its page to voice their vehement disapproval. Many of them complained about Netflix's "greed" and said they were going to leave Netflix for Redbox. Other users suggested services like Crackle, Hulu Plus and even Blockbuster.

Churches that took PCSO money named

MANILA - The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) wants recipients of more than P6 million deducted from its charity funds to be held liable for violating the law.

PCSO board director, Atty. Aleta Tolentino, said a 2009 Commission on Audit report showed there were several checks representing the amount that were taken from the charity fund.
She said P1.44 million was given to the Archdiocese of Cotabato for the purchase of a service vehicle, P1.5 million went to the Zamboanga Archdiocesan Social Action Apostolate, P720,000 was given to Caritas Nueva Segovia, P1.125 million to the Roman Catholic Prelate of Isabela, Basilan and P1.7 million to the Diocese of Butuan.

Gloria Arroyo left P4-B debt, says PCSO

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her allies used the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) as their milking cow, leaving the agency P4 billion in debt, or close to a year’s worth of doles for the poor and the sick.

“They ran it to the ground,” said PCSO Chair Margarita Juico, who recently met with Inquirer editors and reporters.

Juico said the directors appointed by Arroyo to the PCSO board “comingled” the funds for operating expenses with those for charity work, thus allowing the agency to spend more than its budget, especially in the last two years in office of the appointees.

Under its charter, the PCSO is mandated to set aside 55 percent of its revenues (P29.5 billion in 2010) from numbers games, such as lotto, Scratch It, Keno online and sweepstakes for prize money; 30 percent for charity; and 15 percent for operating funds.

The hands of corruption has also reach the clergy as the news stated last night. During the term of the unpopular President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, a number of bishops were given expensive cars. The budget of these cars requested by these bishops came from PCSO or the Philippine Charity Sweeptakes Office.

Rebecca Black Video Off Youtube

Who may not know Rebecca Black? The 13 year old Youtube sensation known for her song Friday. I was able to watch the video which they say it is notoriously bad. If you were not able to watch it, you may have lost your chance because Rebecca's family have taken down the video. According to the news, the family decided to take down the video because Ark Music Factory, the company they hired to make it, is wrongfully exploiting the song and Rebecca's image.

Ark controls the video's YouTube account. Last week Ark briefly charged users $2.99 for three-day viewing rights of the video. It seems Rebecca and her family did not "get down" with the fee. "Friday" fans have taken to Twitter to express their remorse over "Friday's" funeral with the hashtags #sadfriday and #nothingcomesafterthursday.
