Boss Be-'Friend' You On Facebook? Accept or not.




56% of Americans think it is irresponsible to ‘Friend’ your boss on Facebook while 62% of bosses agree it is wrong to befriend an employee, and that is according a survey conducted by Liberty Mutual’s Responsibility Project.
Moreover, 73% think it is not allowed to check Facebook during work hours but 66% say that checking personal e-mail is fine. Tweeting at work is irresponsible said by 72% of the respondents and 79% said the watching online videos is wrong.
Other interesting findings include a fairly even split on whether companies are ethically in clear when using social media profiles to assess job candidates: 52% think it’s appropriate with 48% dissenting. 60% said it is perfectly fine to un-friend an ex after breakup. Also, 75% of the respondents feel that it is egoistical and waste of time to build Facebook profile for a pet.
A 1000 respondents helped realized the above results. Though small in number, it uncovers some interesting issues for work and social media.
